Age 25, Baltimore, MD.

Freddie loved to play football and basketball, he had a developmental disability, & his friends called him “Pepper.” On April 19, 2015, Freddie died from grave spinal cord injuries he suffered at the hands of police officers who had arrested him a week earlier for carrying a knife, even though it was legal under Maryland law. The summer before Freddie was killed, Freddie stopped the local ice cream truck and bought ice cream for all of the neighborhood kids.

Powerful black arm raised defiantly into the air, the hand curled into a fist, rising into the middle on the graphic. Designed into the arm, almost like a tattoo, is an infinity/unity symbol and the words “Black Disabled Lives Matter”.
