Bruce was shot by police while walking away on Jan. 31, 2016. While having a beer with his dad, Bruce who had schizophrenia, He was pepper-sprayed, chased by at least ten officers who tried to taser him multiple times and had a police dog set on him. After protecting himself from the dog, he was shot nine times and hit with seven bullets. Police held a procession for their canine following Bruce’s death.
