24, Chesapeake, VA

He went by the nickname Weezy, he was lively, funny and loved Lil Boosie. On Aug. 19, 2015 he died in jail after being accused of shoplifting $5.50 worth of snacks. He lived with schizophrenia, and when he was taken to court the judge ordered that he be taken to a psychiatric facility to receive the care he needed. Instead, he was put in a regional jail cell, where he was left to waste away for four months. He never got the care he needed.

Powerful black arm raised defiantly into the air, the hand curled into a fist, rising into the middle on the graphic. Designed into the arm, almost like a tattoo, is an infinity/unity symbol and the words “Black Disabled Lives Matter”.
